Torrey Smith has Record Breaking Day as Ravens Beat Rams

Joe Flacco threw for 389 yards. Ray Rice had over 160 yards from scrimmage. Haloti Ngata recovered a fumble and ran it back for a touchdown. It was another beat down as the Ravens beat the St. Louis Rams 37 to 7 today. Many Ravens players played well, but the biggest story of the day was rookie Torrey Smith’s performance.

Torrey Smith showed why the Baltimore Ravens drafted him in the 2nd round this year. They were looking for a wide receiver with speed and he showed some speed today. Torrey Smith became the first rookie ever in NFL history to catch 3 touchdown passes in a quarter! As a matter of fact his first three catches ever in a regular season game in the NFL were each for touchdowns. Torrey Smith had no catches this season before today.

Torrey Smith definitely gets the RavensBlogger.com Ravens Player of the Game Award this week for his performance. Torrey Smith ended up with 5 catches for 152 yards today and 3 touchdowns.

It’s All About the Ravens Offensive Line

The key the Baltimore Ravens having any success this year is the offensive line. Jay Cutler has been in the news for all the sacks he has been taking as the QB for the Chicago Bears. Did you know that Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco has taken the 2nd most sacks right behind Jay Cutler since 2010? We must protect Joe Flacco to have any success this year.

In week one, the offensive line looked incredible, but in week two the offensive line looked horrible. Which offensive line will show up today when we play the St. Louis Rams? I think the Ravens will redeem themselves today and play a good physical game on the road.

Go Ravens!!!

Ravens Stomp Steelers 35 to 7

It wasn’t even close. The Baltimore Ravens completely dominated the Pittsburgh Steelers today. It it wasn’t for a 3 man rush play call on defense in the first half, the Steelers probably would not have even scored at all. Excuse my language, but this ass whipping was long overdue. Revenge is the sweetest thing next to getting …. Tupac said it best:)

Joe Flacco looked absolutely great today. Ed Reed had 2 interceptions. T. Sizzle aka Terrell Suggs pretty much owned Ben Roethlisburger all day. Ray Lewis is still forcing fumbles and getting picks. Ray Rice rushed for over 100 yards. Who says you can’t run on Pittsburgh? The whole offense and defense played well. Game over. Looks like the Titans got next.

Here’s a brief clip of Suggs putting Big Ben on his back during the game.

Ravens Lead Steelers 21 to 7 After One Half of Play

The Baltimore Ravens got off to another incredible start against the Pittsburgh Steelers today. The Ravens scored on just their 2nd play of the game on a TD pass from Joe Flacco to Anquan Boldin. Ray Rice has been a beast in the first half and had over 100 yards from scrimmage and 2 TDs.

The Baltimore defense has played okay so far as well. Terrell Suggs caused Ben Roethlisberger to fumble and has been causing havoc for the Steelers offense all day. Before we get too excited though, we were leading 21 to 7 in the playoff game too before disaster struck. Hope lightning doesn’t stike in the 2nd half.

Go Ravens!!!

Ravens Beat Falcons in Final PreSeason Game

The Baltimore Ravens defeated the Atlanta Falcons in the final preason game of 2011. Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan did not start as expected. Tyrod Taylor got his first start in a Ravens uniform but his debut ended early with a shoulder injury that knocked him out of the game. Some of the highlights of the game included a 55 yard interception return for a TD by rookie draft pick Chykie Brown. The Ravens went on to win the game 21 to 7.

The Ravens Destroyed the Chiefs in Pre Season Game 2

One thing is for sure. The Baltimore Ravens are too physical for the Kansas City Chiefs. The Ravens destroyed them in the playoffs last season and nothing changed in the recent pre season matchup.

Some of key plays included Ray Rice breaking one for a TD and newly added wide receiver Lee Evans catching a nice deep pass from Joe Flacco. The offensive line also played much better in pre season game 2.

Rookie backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor was impressive as well, marching the Ravens downfield for two 4th quarter touchdown drives. The Ravens went on to win a 31-13 over the Chiefs.

Ravens Getting Ready for Pre Season Game 2

The Baltimore Ravens will be taking on the Kansas City Chiefs at M & T Bank Stadium on Friday, August 19th. The game is set to start about 7:30pm. The offensive line played pretty poorly in the first pre season game so that will be an area to keep an eye on in Game 2 . Another area to check out is the passing game. Joe Flacco will need to develop his timing with his new receivers this year.

The game will be a rematch of the first round of the playoffs last year when the Ravens dominated the Chiefs. Game 1 of the regular season in september will be against the rival Pittburgh Steelers.

Lee Evans is Coming to Town

The Baltimore Ravens traded a 4th round draft pick to the Buffalo Bills and have acquired wide receiver Lee Evansthis past week. Lee Evans is a seasoned veteran with good speed and will be another big target for Joe Flacco. Evans will be another deep threat to go along with rookie Torrey Smith.

Here is an ESPN video clip talking about the Ravens acquisition of Lee Evans:

Steelers Beat the Ravens 13 to 10

It was a defensive battle and a close game just like most of the Ravens vs Steelers games in the past few years. The Baltimore Ravens pounded Ben Roethlisberger early leaving him with a bloody broken nose early in the game courtesy of Haloti Ngata. It wasn’t enough however, as the Steelers returned the favor by forcing a Joe Flacco fumble in the 4th quarter. I honestly can’t hate the Steelers for their win today. They earned it with the toughness of Ben Roethlisberger and better play calling.

With the exception of the pathetic pass at the end of the game, I thought Joe Flacco played fairly well. He probably should have audibled out or got rid of the ball sooner on that play when he fumbled though. Oh well, maybe the Baltimore Ravens will sweep the table and win the last four games. I doubt it but let’s hope for the best.

Ravens Out Perform Bucs 17 to 10 on Sunday

The Baltimore Ravens march on to a record of 8 wins and 3 losses after Sunday’s win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Both Derrick Mason and Todd Heap caught touchdown passes from Joe Flacco. The Ravens defense allowed only one touchdown to the Bucs which came in the 4th quarter. The Baltimore Ravens remain undefeated at home this season.
